I have been working on a Husqvarna lawn mower this weekend and finally got it to start. It ran for about 5 seconds and stopped. Of course when I finally got it to start the pull cord along with the recoil spring broke. I can not find the part number to buy another to replace. My question is are all pull start and recoil springs the same for all Briggs and Stratton engines? I have a Husqvarna Crown Series 6.75 HP.

Some place on theml blower housing the engine there will be a area that will have model, type, code. We will need the number to assist you in looking up parts.

I found a number stamped in the sheet metal above the muffler, see number below

121682 0248 E1 024218 FA - it was pretty hard to read I hope this is right.

Thanks

Something is not right with your model number but I am guessing with a 121682-0243-e1 the starter pulley, spring combination is a part number 498144.

Pull rope should be a #4 rope which means 4 mm diameter, you will have to measure length that you need.

Who would carry this item (recoil spring and cord)? Would Lowes, Sears etc...?

I found the recoil spring and pull cord at McHenry small engine parts in Frederick MD. I installed and all went well. I got the lawnmower to start but will not run for long. A little background - I have had the mower for a couple years and have never had it running until now. When performing the maintenance I have done up to this point a spring broke, I'm not sure what it is for, it attached to the choke linkage. What next? Thanks for the help up to this point.

Oil has been changed, new spark plug, need to get an oil filter and the bracket that holds it down. What is the spring for? This is the spring that attaches to the choke linkage - I think? Can this spring be the cause of the issue where the engine does not run for long?

I hope you bought an OEM spring. It is very important for this spring.
