Husqvarna M-ZT 52 VS Kubota Kommander ZG127S

I went to the Husqvarna dealership today to look at the M-ZT today, but they were closed. I was glad because it is easier to look without having someone up your back. When I got home I did the research on this machine. So far it seems for the price that the internet gives you, it would be better in comparison to the Kommander. This is my thought process


Husqvarna is 1 hp better than the Kommander, but I do not know the difference between the briggs and kohler engines

Husqvarna has a blade tip speed of 19,000 compared to 18,100

Husqvarna has ZT 3400 Hydro-Gear compared to ZT 3100 (Are both of these serviceable?)

faster ground speed

foldable ROPS

I want to test drive to see how it handles first before I decide

Any thoughts on these two models?

I just want to make a decision soon. I have 4 acres to mow and my cub cadet LTX1042 just doesn't make the job any faster since I have bought this property and I do not want to spend $8000+ for a commercial mower.

And may I add Gravely and Hustler are not options...I do not have anything against them, I just to not have any dealers in my area.

Price, as you eluded to, is always a big factor, and these two ZTR's seem to be very close in overall quality. But personally on these two ZTR's the ZT-3400 upgrade from the ZT-3100(both are serviceable, but the 3400 is "more Commercially durable quality") and my preference for the foldable ROPS makse me lean towads the M-ZT 52. The Kohler/Briggs are fairly comparable engines in my opinion. Tough choice though! You need to look at/demo both of them after "spec comparisons".

I read that thread before I posted but it did not really say anything about the Husqvarna in comparison to the Kommander

I'm not really sure that you want to go faster than the Kommander...when it comes to mowing it's all you can handle at full speed...UNLESS you have a completely smooth area.

I have the 27hp model...too me I am surprised of how powerful it is.

To comment on the blade speed...all I can tell you is the cut is great even at full road speed. I just got doing my field where I have let it get to about 5-6" and still I was surprised on how well it performed. I am taking a guess here and I may be wrong...my deck at 1800rpms is REALLY loud and I'm sure 1900 will only be louder. Look at the lift mechanism of the deck itself, the kabota is really simple...something I like. The cutting height adjustment is crazy, one hand simple also.

As far as the pumps...like every else one one each side, nothing special and both are serviceable.

My M-ZT 52 gets delivered on Tuesday.
I didn't have a Kubota dealer to test drive a 123/124/127S to compare, but I will tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed all the ergo's the 52 had to offer by my test drive of it.

Look at torque specs too, when comparing motors. You'd be surprised when you compare the Kawasaki, Kohler and Briggs.

I can't wait for a report on that M-ZT 52 after you've got a few acres under it's belt.....just don't make me feel too bad about all the extra money I spent:0)

All I got to say is I never saw anything that was Kubota thy was not quality. I can't say that for Husqvarna. Husqvarna is an MTD product isn't it?

Husqvarna is an industry equivalent to MTD. They own:

Weedeater
Flymo

Plus other companies outside the power equipment venue.

Congrats on the new mower!!! I bought the Husqvarna mz5225 two weeks ago for my 1 acre and love it. Very strong frame with great components. I think you are going to love it. Mowing 4-5 acres with that machine should be a breeze. I just mowed my uncles farm across the street from me while he was in the hospital (Nothing Serious thank goodness) and he has 4-5 acres and I mowed it in no time flat. The zero turn makes it fun too. I also looked at the kubotas cause my uncle has a zg23 but the bang for your buck with the Husqvarna was just to good to pass up. Enjoy your new mower!

I hear ya....if I was in the market to buy an "orange ZTR" and couldn't spend $7K or more it would be a Husqvarna before I bought a Bad Boy(massive deck & frame, but sub-par everything else) or Kubota(Commercial ZTR's above the Kommander just too much $$$ for me as a homeowner:0)

Well I test drove the M-ZT 52 today...I must not weigh enough for that seat...I got on it started it up and started taking the brake off and all of a sudden it shuts off...I try again and same thing...The guy from the dealership looks things over and gets on. It fires right up and away he goes... So then I get on it again and away I go. I started on a straight stretch then start up a little hill to see how it handled. As I am going up the hill you can hear it missing...I knew it was the seat then because every time I hit a little bump it did the same thing...The guy heard the missing to and was I don't know whats going on with that...I said I know what it is...its that dank safety for the seat...I have the same thing on my cub cadet LTX1042, but I have never had it do it that much...That sensor must be very sensitive...And yes I know I can disconnect the sensor or put a jumper wire on it. Overall I still can not decide between the two...I need help:frown:

actually I lied, it was actually the M-ZT 61 I test drove. I test drove that one because the 52 was still in its crate and just arrived. I would assume it is the same thing overall though.
