Any advise where to start investigating this?

Battery is fine and it tries to ignite when starting.

Here is the video from unsuccessful startup try.

As a kid with a kickstart 3/4 hp Briggs that wouldn't, I'm asking , what can it be? " This Old timer said "Son, if you got good compression, good gas, and good spark at the right time, It's gotta run. Still true. Just more things to interfere now.

Google will not let me look at the video unless I sign up for all sorts of spy wear that I have no intention of doing.
If I wanted the world to know what size undies I wear & when I take poo I would be on Feaces Book and use an android phone

Sorry for your troubles. Video sharing should work now.

This is just a kind request to get some help on the issue and how to start investigating it. Give a reply if you want to help.

I can hear what sounds like blades spinning when the engine is cranking
If the PTO is on and the engine cranks then there is a big problem with the electrics.

OTOH if the rattle & rumble is the flywheel spinning loose on the crankshaft then the fix is to replace the timing key & proper;ly tighten the flywheel down

So start by removing the blower housing and see if the flywheel is spinning the engine or just spinning loose on the crankshaft
If it looks OK then remove the kill wire to the coil and crank the engine
If you get no spark then the coil is Stuffed
If you get a spark the coil is OK

It also seems to be spinning too fast like the plug is out or the cam shaft is broken.

But do the first few test & get back to us.
Time for me to hit the farter but some of your countrymen should be awake long enough to work out what is happening if you do the tests & post the results.

Yeah, no compression.

If you do fix it, tighten the engine mounting bolts as well.

Thanks for your kindly help, much appreciated! I will do as advised and start identifying the root cause.

I´ll keep you updated.

that thing is spinning free with zero compression as though the piston rod has broken or something

to be honest i wouldnt waste time on it and just buy an old craftsman or murray riding mower and use the 15-16hp engines that come on them as an upgrade replacement. you can buy old mowers with running engines that have bad decks on them for $50-$100 all the time

I would remove the spark plug and get a pencil or small object that will fit in the plug hole, rotate the engine by hand, or have someone just bump the starter and see if the piston is moving, or you could also just remove the spark plug and place your finger over the plug hole to feel if there is any air being displaced by piston movement.

Thank you all for helping with this issue . I found the reason after removing the engine cover, unfortunately there is a hole in the engine block..

So I think this is the end of the story then or does someone engourage still to fix this thing?

I couraged myself to seal the crack. After that I will be topping the oil and having the test.

Something is probaply broken inside the engine but the sealing is pretty small job. Best scenario would be to get a little more lifetime to this engine.. maybe disasembly to the engine in winter or getting a replacement then.

When there is a hole in the block made by something on the inside of the engine, just sealing the hole won't do it......it's probably toast!

Did you check for piston movement?

You are most probably right
Did you check for piston movement?
I did not yet, how would I to do that?

To see if the piston is moving, take out spark plug, stick a long pencil down the spark plug hole until you feel it bottom out, while holding the pencil the whole time, then slowly spin engine by hand, you should feel the piston rise and lower.....if it's all connected the way it's supposed to be!

I did this and the the piston is rising and lowering. I also managed to put it on video.

I am now recharcing the battery, refilled some fresh gas and topped the engine with oil. Wish me luck.

Sounds like i can hear the piston rising in the bore,
Hope it works out good for you, but don't be surprised if you hear some clackity clack ;)

That video doesn't look like a piston going up & down in a cylinder, that looks like a valve opening & closing on a Flathead type engine.

So no luck starting the engine. Soon giving up with this engine but I am not done quite yet.

One final try if someone could give a hand here. Shouldn´t it give some sign of life if the sparking and fuel injection would work? Any ways to ensure these are working? Start motor works and tries to crank engine on.

No...there is A LOT more to it than that. It might be out of reach for you.

From what we can see of the tractor,
No.

It may be more economical to repower it. If the rest of the tractor frame and deck is in good working condition.
What's the model of the engine? model numbers should be stamped above the spark plug.

What would be suitable replacement motor or and shop that ships within Europe?

I have one new Briggs&Stratton model 31R507-0012 in scope, I think it should fit perfectly?

However, I ended up buying an used Jonsered LR 12 with a price of used engine. It is actually the same machine as Husqvarna LT 112, Husqvarna owns Jonsered so many of the machines branded as Jonsered are the same models released as Husqvarna. 99% of the parts goes to each other so I have plenty of spare parts now including the engine.

This thread can be now stated as resolved. Thanks everyone involved.
