I have a Husqvarna 2042LS riding mower and would like to change the oil filter but even on the Husky website it is difficult to find a part number, which I would hope I could cross reference to something I can find without going to a Husky dealer. I have the owners manual which just tells me when to change the filter but there is no part number given. I spent 30 minutes this morning searching and came up empty. Can anyone advise me how to find a filter for the mower? Thanks, Larry

You will need the model number of the engine, which if its a Briggs and Stratton will be stamped into the valve cover.
oil filter will be an engine part not a mower part
FWIW I use a B&E large or B & S small on everything that has a unified thread
For metrics I need to keep 3 but the bull of engines all have unified threads
The only real difference between any of them is the physical size
Tecumseh filters are the smallest, Kohlers are the thinest & B & S are the biggest
They all quote different micron sizes but that is insignificant as the sizes are all within the the acceptable variation in commercial filter paper .
