Husqvarna 125 BVX dies when choke released

Husqvarna 125BVx, about a year old. It'd be running fine. Recently, it would start fine using the appropriate starting method - prime bulb 10 times, 3 x pulls at full choke, then start at half-choke. However, as soon as the choke is switched off the engine died. The spark plug looked good, but I went ahead and replaced it. No luck. Adjusted the idle speed and checked the exhaust screen. No luck. While I use trufuel with the correct fuel:eek:il ratio, I went ahead and cleaned the carb. No luck. Replaced the carb and fuel lines. No luck. It still does the same thing - starts fine, then dies as soon as the choke is released. I've searched around and found people with similar problems with this model, but no solution.

What might I be missing?

The fuel supply to the carb.
Fuel filter. fuel line, cap vent,return line and if that has a remote primer. duck bill valve in the primer.
Joe Pace from the Husqvarna tech school has a series on You Tube.
Look at them in order from No 1.
You don't touch the carb till you get to the 3rd video.

However 99% of people jump strait into the carb.

Thanks so much for the reply. Should probably have waited on the carb...put the cart in front of the horse. I also stupidly forgot to say that I replaced the fuel lines/filter/primer bulb at the same time as the carb, since it was only a few bucks more.

I'll check out the vids. Thanks again!

ETA: could it still be a cap vent problem? I don't see the usual problem with that - where it'll run for a few minutes, and then cut out.

normally when it will not run off choke, it means that there is either not enough gas or too much air. since you went through the carburetor and replaced all of the lines, it could very well be an air leak. this might be a 2 person job but spray carburetor cleaner or contact cleaner around the carburetor while it running and see if RPMs change. if it does, air leak. also spray around crankshaft seals and the crankcase itself where it seals together.

as far as canned gas is concerned, if you go through a quart a year fine use it. Otherwise, buy a gallon of gas, mix the oil ratio and add some fuel stabilizer like Ethanol Shield.
