I am having troubles with an older Huskee rider that will crank but not turn over recently. It has run well the last time I mowed. I have changed the coil, solenoid, gas lines, checked the safety switches - to no avail.....HELP! I did have a 'specialist' come and according to his pressure monitor it does have compression and I faintly heard him say 'no spark' under his breathe, but then told me there wasn't any compression and he had to go and take his buddy somewhere....some how I don't think I was his priority...only cost me $20 so I wasn't out too much.....any Huskee owners out there?

Whichone of the 16,795 different combinations of engines & mowers have you got ?

It does make things a lot easier

Generic information,
Buy an inline spark tester, the neon tube type & a can of starter fluid
remove the top cowl and disconnect the small wire going to the ignition coil,
remove the air cleaner.
Set the mower to it's normal start positions and crank the engine, looking for a red flash at the tube.
If you got a red flash then reconnect the small wire & try again.
No flash = trouble with the wiring.
Flash, then squirt a LITTLE starter fluid down the air intake.
Mower goes broom then stops. repeat with continual short squirts.
\If you can keep it running then it is carb cleaning time\
If still no joy then check & adjust the valve lash
Check & replace if necessary the fly wheel key.
