By the breather, fuel cap ( breather might also be in there ) and by the pump itself.
The fuel pump is only good for 5 to 10 psi.
There is also a check valve in the primer bulb and on some carbs within the carb itself.
Like the old outboards and speed cars the fuel pump can not pull fuel very far so pressure is required in the tank to push the fuel to the pump
