Hi Guys, Picked one up for $25 not running. Put a plug in and lubed the recoil and she runs! But only with the choke on, fast mode is rough and idle dies. Any ideas?

thx

Carbs for those engines are less than $25. I would recommend you save the extra labor and time and just replace the carb.

make sure the gas is fresh and check for vacuum leaks, crap in the gas tank blocking the fuel flow. What you are describing is a lack of fuel reaching the cylinder, whether it is a vacuum leak, clogged jet, bad fuel, loose head gasket, or other. With the choke on it pulls in more fuel than it would with the choke off.

Thanks, aftermarket? Do you have a link to one that you like?

I only recommend OEM, from a repair shop if possible.

Should this stay running on idle when I release the "Stop" lever?

Since you are now the proud owner of a Honda mower, here is a really good place to start with those kinds of questions. https://cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/pe/pdf/manuals/31VH7001.pdf

Thanks, I see that. I saw a youtuber with the same model could walk away with it idling. I remember my first Honda would stop the blade and let the motor run to empty the bag, etc. (IIRC) :)

What is the purpose of the idle throttle setting if you would not mow with it and can't empty the bag with it?
