I changed out the drive belt on this older HRB215SXA I think a K0 version. I can't get the blade holder bolt to tighten without the engine crank turning. I was hoping that holding the blades would help but crank isn't directly connected to the blade holder disk.
What's the trick to torque up that bolt?

Thanks

It is called the "Indian Rope Trick "
Remove spark plug and shove as much rope as you can down the plug hole leaving 4" or so hanging out so you can pul it out.
rotate the engine in the same direction as the nut has to be turned till the piston is squashed hard up against the rope.
Do up the nut, back off the engine and remove the rope

Do not whistle or hum while tightening or the rope may rise through the spark plug hole. (kidding)

And to be safe don't do the job on that old Persian carpet you got from Gramps and make sure the windows are closed

Hey, it worked. Almost didn't get the rope out though afterwards. It was caught on something inside. Maybe one of the valves inside.

Anyway thanks. Mower works well now.
