Good Morning Folks - I have some new information to add, so I thought I would start with a clean slate. For those just arriving, lost all the oil at once. Forum suspected that it was the lower seal. As is evident in the photos, the oil that I added is dripping from around the roto-stop, not the seal in the middle. Someone was kind enough to suggest two other parts to consider. My questions for the group. First, could it still be the seal if it is not leaking there? Should I remove what is left of the roto-stop and try adding more oil? Do you think it is likely to help pinpoint the problem? If not the seal, how likely is it that the leak could be one or both of the other parts as suggested in the photo below? What are those parts and does it require the bottom of the motor be removed? Thanks in advance.

Finally, is there a better way to post pics? I've used photobucket. Is it working sufficiently well?

Mike

Yes you have to remove the rest of the roto stop.
the blue thing you can see not leaking oil of is the seal of the sealed bearing that runs on the shaft, not the lower oil sea so if oil comes out of there you need to patient it and sell it to Texico.
From memory Robert ( who works for Honda ) gave you some insructions and one of them was to remove the roto stop.
Please either do as instructed or at least stop and think .
The roto stop rotates so obviously it can not retain the oil in the crankcase.
You were instructed to remove the roto stop before the seal so therefor it is below the oil seal.

If you want us to help you then do as asked.
We are not telling you to do things as some sort of punishment or for the pleasure of having you run round in ever decreasing circles till Poop !

I sincerely apologize. I know everyone is busy and has no time to waste on knuckle heads, but here is my defense, for what it is worth. I thought from all the pics I looked at of different engines, that I was looking at the lower seal (blue thing in middle). Since I removed at least part of the roto-stop and saw what I thought was the seal, that I was at the point of looking for other answers. I will push ahead and check back after that. Again, please accept my apologies.

Mike
