After hitting a baseball sized rock my mower is hard to start. It used to take no effort to start. Now it almost flips over when I pull the rope. When I do get it started it runs fine, though. I`ve heard you can bend the crankshaft by hitting a rock, but I thought it would shake like crazy if the crank was bent.

Had the same problem a few ago.

It's hard to pull over because it's out of time. It won't shake like crazy if the crankshaft is bent, been there done that. If the crankshaft is bent, the flywheel may be shiny and scored where is it's rubbing against the coil. Only takes a few minutes to pull the cover off of the engine and check. You can use a business card or feeler gauge (.013") to check the gap between the flywheel and coil.

When you say it`s out of time, Is there any way to fix this?
