I'm so fed up with this hack wiring job that someone has done on this mower before me. I know how to do this for Briggs motors and its pretty easy.
Engine: Kohler SV730-3043
I'd like to know where the wire harness wires go (6 wires using 5 pin outs on a 6 pin out plug) , and where they go.
Row 1, Left to right Empty Green Orange
Row 2, Left to Right (1) Orange White Purple
Part of Row 2, pin 1 (1) Pink
Secondly, Where do the (2) wires from the Clutch run to?
PTO Switch:
Row 1, Left to right Blue w/ White Tracer Red Empty
Row 2, Left to Right White W/ Black Tracer Yellow Empty
Row 3, Left to right Orange W/ White Tracer (2) Black and Orange
The wiring colours are part of the mower, not the engine.
The best thing you can do is get your hands on the wiring diagram for you mower
If you then tell us what it is we can look it up and provide the wiring information you need
Some makers use Grey for the solenoid wire, some use black & some use white
Some use black for the wire, some white & some yellow
So photos of your engine would also be helpful
If your engine has a piggy back solenoid on the starter then it will be wired different to the same mower with a remote solenoid and then there are relays
If you know how to wie a B & S then you already know how to wire a Kohler unless you have one of the models with a SAM type of ignition ( coils with more than 1 small wire )
All engines have the same parts, a Starter an alternator , a regulator ( or single diode ) , a fuel solenoid .
If you are not sure, take the blower housing off & follow the wires back.
AFAIK , all current Kohlers have a regulator rectifier so that makes things a lot easier.
The back of the key switch should have little letters cast into it
B = battery fused power supply
G = Ground for stopping
M = magneto kill wire connects to G in off position
S = Start spring loaded connection to the solenoid on starter
A = Alternator Power in from the rectifier ( purple wire )
L = lights
