how to set torque wrench?

I've also got one of them old beam type craftsman. I use if when I do not mind if I get the wrench dirty, oily and nasty. I think maybe mine only goes to 150 ft lbs.
What's nice about the clicker dial type is you do not have to watch the scale, just feel/listen for the click.
 
My Snap On guy has a torque wrench tester that he can test one while you wait . I have mine checked at least once a year , and my guy does it for free !

I was referring to the type that has the scale plate and pointer.. (not the clicker beam type)

similar to this:

Just wondering how many of you have left hand clickers. I got 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" but don't see a need for a 3/4" yet. So basically I have 7 torque wrenches currently not counting the small in/lb for very low in/lb measurements.
 
Old school beam types are preferred. Also don't have to dial them back to 0 when you are done. Smarter tool all around.
 
Most beamers max out around 150lbs. If you can do it with a beeper or break-away then you can pull/push a beamer.

Yes, that is a flex beam.
A split beam is click-to-torque value.

Split beam torque wrenches do not have to be dialed back to zero. There is no benefit unless it makes you sleep better. Clicks when the set torque has been reached.
