How to keep a grassy driveway?

We have a driveway through the front lawn. My husband says if we drive slowly it won't kill the grass but after several years, we're beginning to see our clay soil. Is there a way to keep the grass and still drive over it every day?

Not really ...
You are doing more than just crushing the grass blades and roots, You are also compacting the soil. Grass and most everything else will not do well in compacted soil...
Also if you can drive on it daily, it is not getting enough water to continue growing.
If you must drive where you have grass, you will most likely need to place stone or brick in the paths you are driving on... :smile:KennyV

So he needs to buck up and set down edges and gravel, decorative, the driveway? Good. We can then baby the grass on either side of the driveway.

Artificial turf. Notice how well some of the football fields hold up? I just don't know why someone would want grass for a driveway. Actually, I've never even heard of it before

Hehe I like that last idea. It really made me smile. Maybe they do not have a large yard in the front and don't want to turn it in to a driveway. I would like to hear why you would want a grass driveway too.

I have looked at the comments and to add my piece I would offer this suggestion. In New Zealand we strike this problem a lot where we want to have a lawn but need the driveway access also, so we have a range of open faced concrete blocks that allows us to have the best of both worlds, a drive and a lawn.

Sorry I missed a bit out of my Thread.
You could always paint the drive with a good old Army Green That will withstand anything

Also the name of the product was Belgard Turfstone
