Does anyone know how to install a conventional tach on a B&S 24 HP V twin engine?

A tach runs off the coils 12 volt power supply.
Not sure how you would hook one up on a mower engine but I shall do it this weekend and let you know

Thanks carscw, my engine uses a magneto and I'm not familiar with them at all.

As I posted in another thread to my knowledge there are no conventional tachs available for small engines. Tiny tacos are great and easy to install.

Found this info on youtube. Autometer make a tach for briggs & Straton engines only. Model 6652
Kind of pricey $147.00

Forget my last post, that tach only works on 1 cyl. engines. I found this one and it seems to fill the bill for anyone wanting to put a tach on a late model tractor. It sells for 59.00 on Amazon. They say it will work on 1,2,4,6,8 cyl. engines. Check it out.

I have one on my walk-behind and motorcycle (to make sure idle is set right).
Simple, but gives the info you want.

B&S does produce a tach/hour meter for use on their engines. you should be able to pick one up at most any repair shop. they cost about $55 average. they are made for the 1 & 2 cylinder engines.
