I need to know how to fix the charging system on a 1992 year 721grasshopper with deck out front. The charging light(discharging light) will not go off. It has a 21 hp kubota diesel block with gas heads( if that makes sense). The engine looks like the 20 hp diesel engine. I have tried replacing the blade fuse on the right side of the seat, and even the voltage regulator. I think the generator is putting out but am not 100% sure. How can I tell? The only post on the generator has 2 like size wires coming out. Need some INFO. Thanks

WELCOME to LMF...
You can Remove the Alternator & voltage regulator, take them both into your favorite auto parts store... They can test them & let you know the condition of each.

There Could be a fuse Or a fusible link on the large wire that connects to the Large post on the alternator. Check that fuse, they can fail due to age & vibration.
If you have an alternator with an external voltage regulator and find that either are bad, you can replace Both, for under $50, using an internal regulated alternator. (with a slight modification to your existing wiring harness).
