How to attach spring on HRA214 throttle control linkage

Took the carb off my circa 1985 mower cleaned it and installed new carb bowl gasket. I am still having gas drip from it, but I'll remove it and recheck the seal. However, when I replaced the carb I noticed that the spring on the throttle linkage came loose and I had not noticed how it was originally attached. This is part 3 on the parts diagram I attached. Here is a photo of my part, attached the way I guessed. However, the throttle does not seem to operate properly over its full range. Does anyone know how this is supposed to be attached - where on the left side of the spring it attaches to the metal piece? If you happen to have a photo, that would be great. Thanks. Peter

Thanks. That is a different spring or probably a different model of linkage.
