Hi, first post, thanks for having me. I have had a snapper RER for years and always just had to replace the rubber friction disc. I have a friends mower that I am working on for him and his main complaint is that once it gets hot the mower will quit pulling. The disc is brand new and I have read where there is supposed to be a way to adjust the disc but I can't see where to do it. I posted a couple of pictures in my album of the underside of the mower. If someone with photoshop or equivalent could show me where to make the adjustment.

I found on another site and someone said to loosen the two screws above the pulley on the metal disc and then pull the metal disc down until it contacts the rubber dick tightly.

Are they talking about the big metal disc that is attached to the engine?

Thanks for any and all help. Like I said, just never had to make adjustments to mine, just always replaced the disc when it wore out and kept on truck.....er, I mean mowing

i have a snapper model 308x. according to the manual for mine it stated that the drive disc on the bottom of the motor is supposed to be 3-3/4 to 3-13/16 of an inch from the bottom of the deck that the engine is bolted to. it may be a little different depending on the model you are working on. you will have to consult the maintenance manual for your model.you may also have to adjust the clutch system on it.

The best way to adjust the disc is to loosen the drive plate that's atached to the engine crankshaft, place the shift lever in 3rd gear and adjust the drive plate to where you have 3/16" clearance between the drive disc and drive plate with the clutch pedal fully depressed. This way will allow for any wear issues in the transmission. Thanks!!!
