...with my '17 Gravely HD ZT 60 with a Kohler7000, believe a 25.5 hp? Reason I ask, I just purchased a Sure-Trac 7' X 12' utility trailer. Think it weighs ~ 1,000 lbs. I want to be able to maneuver it into some pretty tight spaces & thought the mower might be the way to go with this rather than the truck. Only gonna happen 1-2 times/year. Maybe 60'. Thanks all.

Well each HG ZT3100 is rated for a max weight of 1200 lbs. Now the mower itself weighs 843 lbs plus the fuel and operator weights. So assuming you weigh 200 lbs (not the 240 that I weigh) you are already pretty darn close the 1200 lbs. There is times that you will be pulling with just one transaxle and not both so you got to figure on just the one and not both.

This is why I tell my customers that ZTRs are not meant for pulling heavy weights; unless, you like buying new transaxles every so often.

Thank you, kind sir. That's what I wanted to know. Also, thanks for assuming I only weigh 200. You just made my day!

And, since I've 'got the floor', a second related question. Setting aside the pros & cons of rolling a lawn, figuring that a water roller weighs ~ 400 lbs., this too would be frowned upon?

Now that can be tricky to answer. It is a rolling weight. On level ground it cutting it close. But I wouldn't be pulling it up hills. Inertia of the weight moving does help some as it has sorta a gyroscope effect.

And it is also easier to pull a weight than push it. As I said the 843 + your weight is a pushing load. This can actually explains why when you get stuck with a ZTR it is easier to get it unstuck by backing up. Or when using a hand cart it is hardier to push a heavy load than to pull it.

BTW I did consider tongue weight in your first question and also that trailer might partially loaded.

Appreciate it. BTW, trailer empty & would be pulled, not pushed. Not sure what the tongue would be. Have to borrow mama's scales w/o her knowing & find out. Thanks.

Thats one of the disadvantages of a zero turn that you learn about after buying.Sure they mow good, but the transaxle is actually very fragile pulling loads vs.a garden tractor.I would reconmend you figure out a different solution. Its a smart question to ask here,as their is a lot of knowledgeable members.Good luck
