How did your mower do post-storage ?

Yesterday I decided I'd start the mowing season early this year, as it has been unseasonably warm, and got the 2011 Mountfield SP414 2.6HP 100CC Walk Behind out of the shed, where it has been since late October '11.

I filled it with fuel, cleaned off the grass from the deck, checked the oil level (didn't change the oil as it was changed last year and barely used afterwords, don't worry, no fuel had contaminated it as it was ran dry before winter), pulled the starter cord a few times without holding the dead man's handle to lubricate the bore, and way hay, with 5 primes and one pull she fired right up...

For 5 seconds in plooms of white smoke (jammed breather valve ?), then stalled.

So two more primes and another pull and she was running again, with just a tiny bit of smoke (you had to look to see it) and after about 10 seconds started to run smoother and the smoke stopped (when I presume the breather valve started working).

I mowed the front and back lawns, which both needed done badly, and she did it better than I could have hoped.

In case I didn't say it enough last year, I'll say it again, I LOVE MY MOUNTFIELD!

So, how did your mower do when you started (or attempted to start) it up this year ?

Still have snow on the ground here, haven't even thought about mowing the lawn.

Having the same troubles here in NY my lawn is still white with a little black out by the road. The road plows sure made a mess this year out of my lawn. We still can get big snow storms yet.

No snow here, but I'm still not ready to take the tractors out.

If I pulled the mower out the shed it would sink in the pond that appears in spring
