Everything is thawing out here in Arkansas. My cold water line froze up a little this morning. And I burned through a ton of wood. But no power outages happened. So it's all good now.

How did y'all come out?

Was today here in TN also, the Sun did the best help. But didn't get above 28* & dropping down to maybe 9* tonite..
Will have faucets dripping again, actually I have then dripping now. You got lucky on the water line.

We had the fireplace on a few times, really warms things up quickly.. So far, so good.

We got that 9 degree temp last night. 26 for the low tonight. And have a chance of some sleet in the morning. I'm down to my last 1/2 rick of wood. It's gone quick. Hoping we don't have any power outages this year.

My well water pump froze and have been out of water for last four days (first time ever).

There is plenty of winter left, plenty. Got over three cut/split cords of firewood out in the back to heat my shop. I absolutely hate winter, love spring and summer, and enjoy fall. When you think about it, there are about two months out of the entire year when the weather is. “perfect”. When you work outside everyday, you become intimately aware of daily weather and how much of an impact it has on life. Versus someone sitting behind a desk all day in the heat and A/C.

That's a fact. We dropped to 6* overnight. Brine trucks were out in force. Overdoing it.. Keeping my truck inside & off the roads till we get good rains, which may not be long.

Don't worry guys the Yo-Yo is going back next week where most of us will seeing above normal temps.

No way now delivery service is going make their drop-offs/pick-ups here this week. They missed two snow cover days but UPS made one drop-off. I just checked earlier the road while I was looking for a missing hen. There is about 3 inches of solid ice on the road in front of the shop. Lincoln county apparently decided not to plow the road this time around. Had more freezing rain overnight. Might be above freezing Monday. Sure hope so as they rain forecasted for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Another lost work week.

Once it gets down into the teens for highs, it is too cold to work in my shop. Wood burning stove with no insulation is just not enough. Between having the flu for a week and a half and cold weather so far this year, there has not been much going on work wise for me. I have been ready for spring since winter started.

Strange Tiger. My previous shop was a 28x28x10 concrete bock shop and the home made wood burner keep it nice and warm except I had to open the doors to move equipment. Just can't put in the current shop until I build another large storage/office building. Just too packed with parts, tools, and other equipment.

Yes, we got rain on the way, with low temps in the 40's. One day it's supposed reach 60. I might break out my shorts and stand in front of the sunny window. :D

Since I'm almost out of wood (saving some for a power outage), I found that the central heat doesn't warm up my bones like that fireplace does. I've got the thermostat on 71, and still walking around with chill bumps.

We aren't over it yet here in north middle Tn calling for 1 degree tonite. Then slowly start to rise over the next several days and up to near 60 by the weekend.

North AL. In a whole week, we've been above freezing for 8h. We don't insulate for that. 3 streets over - a water main busted. Quite a geyser for 20 mins.

I hear ya man, our (gas log) fireplace does good..(try & save that for emergency power outage.) The HVAC does good, set @ 72*, I have a thermal LS shirt on, & it feels ok.. Unit is only 1-1/4 years old. Really helped on electric bills. Old one was smaller & over 25 years old..

I hear ya man, SE TN here, calling 8* tonite. Snow is gone & most ice as well. Looking forward to the warm up.

It does not snow here and rarely drops below -1 C
For times when it gets to a chilly 5 C I slip into some snow boarding pants & jacket I bought a decade ago out of season really cheap.
This is pushing 10 years without needing a heater nor air conditioning .
Yo do actually get acclimatised in a very short time frame

We survived the night no frozen water. Kept the water dripping all night. High today around 30. It suppose to be up to the 60's by the end of the week. Say warm and be safe.

Might get some what use to the temps but it is the snow that has turned to solid ice now that is causing a lot problems. At least tomorrow it will finally get above freezing and then week worth of rain starts.

This winter blast has been unusually long as where I am we just see this lasting more than a few days at a time.

FedEx has really screwed up on deliveries this time. It snowed Monday night. They still had a couple good days before things turn to solid ice. But they just had to take Monday off for the federal holiday even knowing bad was coming in. To make things worst the UPS and USPS are still making deliveries on my street. The FedEx contractor is just not setup to handle this type of weather event. It that or you know I called out the mental ward on the driver that wear shorts in freezing temps.

You ain't kidding about the FedEx thing.

I bought the cat a different type of can food (meow mix). It arrived a few days before the bad weather. After about 3 cans of it, I realized she simply wouldn't eat it. So I ordered her normal food. It went from Iowa to Waterloo MS, in one day. And has been there since the 18th.
The cat has been pissed at me for the last 3 days.

I supposed it's just good business to let people wait on their packages. Truck wrecks and insurance is expensive. Especially if there's injuries and deaths involved.

Yea, my 3 cats let us live here as long as we feed them & scoop the box.. And they don't like changes. Not to their food, or anything else.

I mess with them, when they sleep, I re-arrange some stuff & watch them come out & are on guard due to the change..:coffee:

I finally gave in and went to the dollar store to get her a few cans of her normal stuff. And of course they don't have her normal food. So like an idiot, I got a few cans of of something made by the same company (Purina).

That was a no go too. So, I'm thinking that she's not going to get another can of anything until her normal stuff arrives in a few day. She can either eat the dry food, or mice. It's up to her.

I got a neighbor that feds the wild animals. He also got a cat and dog. Well recently the store didn't his cat's normal food so he got some of another brand. The cat hated it. But what was worst was the possum refused it and they eat about everything.

But I had my chickens to refuse a store brought lasagna that was just so horrible at the first bite threw it to the chickens. Well I definitely know it was bad flavor wise when a chicken turns it down. It took a starving possum three days to eat it. Ever since I make my Lasagna from scratch. Any left overs eaten quickly by the crew.

I had some bread go bad a couple of weeks ago, and tossed it out to the birds. It was still laying out there a week later after being rained on twice, and the slices were still in one piece.

And I have freezing rain today with rain forecast for the next 5 days.

She''s not hungry enough yet.. They are finicky. We only get animals from Rescue Shelter, they need homes most imo.
We got my 3 sons, oldest is Clay-Henry @ 15 yrs old, his gal (Misty) passed a couple years back, he was lost, so we adopted 2 litter mate bros, both now 3 yrs old, Willie & Waylon. They have become quite the trio. Clay is ring leader. And the younguns got him running again. I like that....

Yea agree about possums. I would enjoy seeing a chicken eating lasagna tho. Now ya got me hungry. I'm no cook. You sound like you are a great cook.

You know it's bad if the birds leave it.. We have Monday & Tuesday dry & normal warm, high 50's, then rains for rest of the week. I don't like the freezing.

Her normal food arrived today. (Lucky her). So out of curiosity, I gave her 1/2 can of it, and she ate 99% of it. The best part of all this is she stopped "judging me."

For the first time in 13 days we might get above 32 degrees today. If not today the rest of the week is forecast to be in the high 30’s. Might have to heat up the shop, as iv’e got 5 neighbors wanting their blowers back. 4 belts and one carb, so I should get them out in two days or less. Problem one may be an old Simplicity that I have to split the unit.

Well it is up on my bench, I place two 1 gallon paint cans apart to sit push mower on so I can do the underside stuff, sitting on my chair..

I'm fixing to make a square frame that I can hook to the winch I have mounted on a big beam. I normally use it to lift riders. But with the frame, I'll be able to raise up push mowers. Since it's on the edge of the work shop, the handle will stick outside the shop so I can raise it up about chest high.
The tricky part is going to be getting the cables the right length. The 4 cables will attach to the corners of the frame and then connect to the winch hook.

I need to make it so that it's adjustable for different size mowers. And wide enough to get a blade off while it's up in the air.

I'm down to just a few loyal customers who don't complain.. 😁😁😁

But I love not having to get up and down. My back is grateful. Being eye level with a push mower carb, without having to lift it and lowering it using the back is a game changer.
