which is about what Jane (not Tarzan) can apply with a common 10mm "nut driver". DO NOT re-install those nuts with a wrench or socket, and definitely not with an impact wrench.

Very common when trying to remove the starter cord assembly. As one of the previous poster stated just keep turning and the studs will back out of the engine block. Repeat this procedure with all three studs until you can remove the whole fan shroud. After you get it remove you will have to use a pair of vice grips on the stud bolt to hold it to break loose the nut. When reinstalling, put some lock tite on the stud bolts before screwing them back in the block and then don't tighten the nuts so tight.

My solution, on one troublesome stud, was to replace the OEM nut with a nylon-filled nut, just a simple M6x1. You can just snug that nut down, and the nylon filling will prevent the nut from backing out from vibration, etc.
