I messed with 2 screws on the carb and made it worse. Can someone tell me how to set the air fuel mix and idle speed. I need a starting point. I.e. turn clockwise all the way, then back 1 1/4 turn.
There is a pilot screw (slotted) and a throttle stop screw (Phillips). To adjust the pilot screw, start and let the engine fully warm up. While at idle, adjust the pilot screw so you get the highest idle speed. A good starting point is about 2-1/4 turns out. To adjust the throttle stop screw, use a tachometer and set the screw so the engine is turning right at 1,750~1,950 rpm.
FYI, if this rider was still being sold new in the USA today, the pilot screw would require an anti-tamper cap be glued on the cap, per current EPA rules regarding tampering with small gas engine emission systems.
Hope this helps. -Robert@Honda
