Honda hrr216vla electric start not working

Neighbor is selling a used one of these. Runs great, starts first pull, and the battery charging system works. After mowing a bit with it, the starter motor turns but never starts the mower up. Never even begins turning the actual lawnmower engine over, I just hear the starter motor going.

Any ideas on how to fix are greatly appreciated.

Hello,

The starter has what looks to be a gearbox driving the pinion,,,check to see the pinion is turning, not just the starter motor (it may just need to be positioned closer the flywheel gear).

It's 77.02 if it's bad.
