Hi, I have a Hustler Fastrak with a Honda GXV530, i have had issued with starting. I have to rotate the engine a few times by hand while turning the key to get it to start. I have installed a new battery and starter motor, still no good. When i turn the key the starter throws out but wont always turn the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adjust the valve lash to the minimum size of the spec ( they will be in MM not inches ) .
If still no joy then new cam time.

Thanks, when the engine starts it runs great, just takes a few goes to get it to start. How does the valve lash and cam effect the starting? Just for my own knowledge?

The cam has a decompressor built into it.
The starters are quite weak to protect the con rod
So if the lash is too big the decompression does not work and the engine stops cranking at full compression

This engine doesn't a camshaft per say but have 2 cam gears with ACRs.

The OP will need the type and serial number off the crankcase for parts look-up.
