Honda GX620 v twin generator motor

I have a Dayton Generator with a honda gx 620 motor.

The motor will not start. I know it is getting spark, and I replaced the fuel pump. From what I have been reading is it is possibly the solenoid on the carb.

My question is could the starter solenoid affect this. I have had to jump the starter solenoid with my car battery hooked up to the generator battery in the cold weather. I notice that the carb solenoid wire runs into the conglomeration of wires that are hooked up to the starter solenoid.

any help would be greatly appreciated

are you getting electric to the solenoid? Without it, the engine wouldn't run.

until recently I could use a screwdriver and jump the solenoid to start the generator, now when I jump it, it just cranks but does not start. I know there is spark because if I spray cleaner into the carb it will turn over for a second or two, I imagine it is just burning the cleaner off

1. Pull each spark plug and reconnect to the boot. Ground electrode and absolutely confirm you have visible spark on each side. Confirm plugs are not fouled. Replace with hotter plug if fouling persists (NGK BPR2ES).
2. Check ignition coil-to-flywheel air gap; it must be exactly 0.2mm (.008 in)
3. Early GX620 engines had a clutch-type starter, but later models used traditional solenoid-style. Sometimes the older clutch-styles can disengage when trying to start in cold (25 F) weather.
4. Confirm proper choke operation
5. Test fuel pump; check lines for vacuum leaks, inspect fuel filter
