Honda GX200 main jet screwdriver

I have a GENUINE Hoda GX200 with a GENUIUNE Keihin carburetor that I need to do a thorough cleaning on. I have B&S 19061 and 19062 hollow ground "jet" screwdrivers.

Neither one will engage the slot main in the main jet !

What do you use to remove the main jet ?

Take a flat tip 2"L 1/4 Hex shank bit and modify it to fit the slot. Remembering to keep the hollow grind profile as some may need the tip thinned some to fit the slot.

Should still be able find a cheap bit set that can sacrificed for this purpose.

I got several modify bits that the hex has the corners knocked off. One is even ground down to completely round it will fit down a hole leaving a little of the hex for the driver to fit. No taper on the flat as it got to be a straight sided driver to get as much of a bite you can get.

If you stay in this business long enough you'll learn that tools have to be modified in some cases or completely made from scratch. I got a few that if you touch without permission you might lose some fingers. Definite won't loan them out. I even got a right angle bit driver that I use once or twice a year to make carburetor adjustment on atvs.

Just a plain small Craftsman flat blade usually works well. It may need the sides of the tip filed or ground slightly.

Are you nuts? Those screwdrivers are tapered two ways.

1] They don't get a full breast of the slot,
2] and they have a bad habit of climbing out of the slot.

This why the bits needs to be straight sided with a hollow grind on the tip. And do you even know what a hollow grind is?

Using the incorrect tool is why I have to drill out jets so many DIYer screwed up jets.

Here is the ones I use here. Now the one on the left is not for carburetor but removing 2 cycle clutch drums. The one with a handle is a Briggs one that was given to me and I have never used it yet.

And this is the profiles. Now the one on the right is correctly ground but there is optic illusion going with the camera. Looks bent but it is not. Probably something to with the sun. And that tip is thinner than one on the left

I agree, if the tip is not a correct fit into the slot, there will be trouble.

I also have a few that I have custom modified like you have as well.

For particularly stuck "frozen" jets, I also use a little heat after the housing has been run through the ultrasonic cleaner for 30 minutes. A small butane torch and a wet rag will "shock" the crustation with heat and cold most of the time and the jet and Yost tube will come right out with very little effort.
