Honda GCV160 wont start

Ok this is the first time being on here, but my Honda GCV160 wont start. I think the lever you pull down to start the lawnmower there's a problem. Now as you can see im not a lawnmower mechanic but hopefully looking for ideas and maybe a quick fix. The reason I say it is something wrong with that lever is because before it was a lot harder to pull down and now it is not or very loose to pull down. Any ideas because im all ears.

Please post model number, manufacturer, year, as well as all numbers from engine. I believe your throttle cable to carburetor has come loose or is broken and needs to be replaced. Move cable back and forth and see if linkage is moving at carburetor, if linkage is not moving cable is probably broken inside housing.

The lever you pull down to start is called the flywheel brake. When you pull this lever, it pulls a cable that pulls a brake pad away from the engine's flywheel and at the same time disconnects a ground wire to the ignition. When you let go, the brake pad is pressed against the flywheel via a heavy spring, and this helps to stop the engine (and blades) from turning. The ignition is also grounded when you release, and that shuts down the engine.

Reduced effort on the lever might indicate the cable has failed or become disconnected (at either end). Best if you have a tech inspect the mower to confirm the actual problem. You can find a servicing Honda dealer at this link:
