Long story short, made the wife mad and bought a used John Deere D110 (2013/2014) model I believe with a Briggs 19hp engine off facebook. The guy drove it around his yard to show me it was working. I got it home and made about two passes in my yard and the accelerator pedal become unresponsive. I turned off the tractor to take a look and found oil all over the deck. Finally got it in the garage and cleaned up to try and find the leak. Started it up on the ramps with the hood off and found this hole squirting oil everywhere. Is this repairable? Worth trying? Did the seller scam me or am I just really unlucky? It looks like the motor has been worked on before. Suggestions on what could have caused it? I really appreciate any feedback. The I told ya so's from the wife are unrelenting.

Yes a bit of your favourite goop in the hole and all will be fine.
Down side is something made that hole and most likely from the inside so I would be inclined to pull the engine and pull the sump to see if there is any damage inside.
These engines have a decompressor which regularly fails and tosses little bits of metal all over the place.
SO with a bit of luck, the previous owner replaced the broken bits but did not notice the hole .
