Anson in Logan, Utah here. I have a yard machine push mower with the big ol' wheels in back. I've replaced the plug, the ignition coil, cleaned the air filter and I still got a bad case of the hiccups. Engine starts but BOY does it stutter. STarts off good for a few seconds then goes right into its little fit. Have NOT changed the fuel yet. Maybe i better try that and come back. I'm not %100 sure i got the spacing right when i set the coil back in. A guy on a youtube vid said to fold a paper in half a couple times and put it between the coil and the flywheel so thats what i did. I would love it if someone here could and would help me get it running good again. No money for repairs. Just trying to keep 5 beautiful kids fed.

You might want to clean the carb. That could help.
Myself I have used the business card. Now the air gap. The only thing the air gap is going to change is timing and very little at that. You really shouldn't see any different in the running of the engine + or - a few thousands. I will say air gap isn't your problem but its no big deal or job to have it right.
