New here. I thank you for allowing me to join. Just picked up an old SEARS, rear engine, 7/25, electric start, rider. Not in too bad of shape, but won't start. Plug is getting wet so I assume gas is getting into cylinder. Also assume I'm not getting any spark. Any thoughts on what I can do to track down this problem? Also, does anyone know where I can get at least an owners manual; preferably a repair manual, for this thing? Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, Jim.

Thanks for your reply. I, in fact, do not have any spark. Checked with an actual spark tester, and nothing. I've taken sides and top off of machine to better get at coil. Appears coil is under flywheel and flywheel will have to be removed to get to coil (please tell me this isn't so):frown:. Any thoughts on how to test for location of "no spark" problem and the steps to follow. Thanks, Jim.

I don't know what you have for a engine. That would be a big help knowing that. When someone says old I take it as old. Now the older engines had points and condenser under the flywheel. If this is the case remove the flywheel and either replace them or clean the points. To clean the points I use sand paper on the contacts.
