Tires Help! Please

I have a Weed Eater One riding mower, 3rd season now, and this is the second season that I need tires. My fault this time as I ran something over. The front tire 10x4-4" is nearly impossible to find, as I am sure others have found too. Yesterday I saw in a post somewhere that there is a substitute to be found much more easily. 4.10/3.50.4 has anyone used that tire and is it a good replacement for the 10x4-4" that I can't find?

Not exactly an answer to my question but a very helpful hint for when the tires come back from the repair shop this afternoon.

Actually, unless the holes in the tire are really big, using Slime will usually fix the problem - as well as preventing new ones.

Seriously - I used a GALLON of that stuff in my rear tractor tires (and I mow down small mesquite trees).

Oh they are really BIG...tore up the sidewalls of both front and back tires. When I mess up I do a first class job of it.

If the sidewalls are torn, it's time to get new tires. No repair on sidewalls will last.


Rather than replacing the tire (rubber), can you simply replace the entire wheel? I swap wheels on my riding lawn mowers all the time. Replacing with a wheel from a common size (like the one's you find at home depot/ lowes) might be the way to go...

Exactly...no repair on sidewalls ever works in my experience. I used to work in a tire store so have seen it all. LOL

As to buying new wheels that could get a tad pricey. What I should do is buy a bunch of replacement tires and keep them on hand for my disasters. But the front tire for the WE261 is not easy to find and that's why I wanted to know if the other tire, which I can find easily, is a good replacement for the original one. The 10x4-4" is a killer to find.
