Ok... I have a craftsman self propelled push mower. 190cc 7.0 ft lb torque... Drained the oil... Refilled til good on dipstick. Ran it for about 45 minutes. Then decked oil.. Was real hot and low. Added a bit of oil... Decked blade. Started it and walked 10 ft. Huge puff of white smoke and it shut off. Oil everywhere and air filter dripping oil. Help!!!

It is very Easy to Overfill a small engine... How much oil did you put in?
What type oil are you using??
How old is the engine??
Any problems Before the oil change??

It is normal for the oil to run Very Hot, the oil on the inside of the engine along with the air over the outside is used to cool the engine, so it will be Quite Hot... :smile:KennyV

Im using 30Wt.. The people i got it off of said its a year old. Didn't use it this year. I suspected i over filled it but wasnt sure. Also... I tipped it up to check the blade right before that too. I was going to get new oil after work, i drained oil last night. CHeck spark plug.. Clean filter etc. The oil Was coming it of the carborator dripping thru air filter...
Sound like overfill and tipping it up not helping?

Try it with the proper amount of oil... And if you feel you must tip it over, be sure the carb is toward the Top... :smile:KennyV
