help identifying part

Im rebuilding my kohler 25hp v-twin carburetor, i have a brass small piece i believe is a check valve that came out of a hose going from the acc.pump to the carb. below is a picture attachment of the item. is this piece directional or can it go in either direction? any help would be appreciated Thanks

Just did one a few weeks ago. I don't remember it being directional. It looked more like a jet than a check valve.
 
the acc pump is im referring to is a Accelerator pump, sorry for not spelling it out early, Am i right about it going into the larger of the two hoses? (i believe it is the vacuum hose) from the carburetor.
