New member here-have been reading and learning for a while-now the post with a need:
I have a 2003 Dixie Chopper w/990 Generac engine and having difficulty locating primary and secondary air filters. Dealer offers are 1 " too short and cannister cap does not seal when locked. Does anyone know of third party sources that might be affordable-the Dixie factory says they have them at $92 each. Perhaps I mite purchase the shorter cannister for the shorter filters. Your knowledge and opinions are much solicited.

Is this what you have? Usually only the large outer one needs to be replaced.

Thanks so much for the input.
I don't believe the filters you identified are the ones I current have installed--the length (of both ) is 11 1/4". The one above are those available from dealer.
As I see it, there are two options? (if correct length cannot be located)
1. devise a 'filler' to take up void between end of filter and inside of cap
2. locate and purchase cannister housing to hold the shorter filters
If you or anyone can offer ideas, thoughts -I am most certainly thankful and open.

You are correct about the primary usually only needs replacing-I try to keep it clean with compressed air as Dixie Chopper info recommends.

On a side note: it appears as though I have similar situation with my New Holland compact tractor-it uses same filters.
Once again-I thank you for your input and look forward to a solution soon.

I think the later model Generac generators had a similar filter system after the change their designs a little and got away from the square top mounted filter assemblies.

More than likely Baldwin brand filters might have a match for your dimensions.
