I just joined the forum and look forward to seeing what all it's about. I live in Middle Tennessee, I'm a grandfather four times over.
I currently keep about 4.5 acres mowed, I use a John Deere 345 with a 48" deck. In the winter I have a 48" front blade to work dirt and gravel with. I also have the front thatcher and rear bagger but don't use them much
since I moved out in the country. I have lug tires, filled with water/antifreeze, on the rear to help traction on rough ground.
I've read before that the Kawasaki FD590 engine tends to break the plastic cam gear. The new cams have a metal gear. But when I checked with my local JD dealer with 18 stores they sell less than 2 annually. So I guess it's not much of a problem. Apparently you have a good John Deere parts vendor as a forum sponsor from what I've read.
I'm looking forward to making some new friends here!
