Hi. It's been a long time (about 18 yrs) since I've mowed a lawn. I just purchased a home on a 1 acre lot, so it's time to jump back in. Given the size of the lawn, I definitely want a riding mower. Not sure whether to get a lawn tractor or ZTR mower or if I want to mulch or bag. Oh, and I'll need to pick up a snowblower too.
Since I have come across this site, I have found much helpful information. I look forward to interacting with everyone here.

:welcome: Congratulations on your new home. As far as your type of lawn equipment to purchase you will find plenty of advice and opinions here. Glad you are here.
Yes, welcome to the site. The type of equipment will depend on the type of property you have and also the type of work you intend to do.

Welcome,
I am new here too. Good luck on your choice. Your needs will probably define your equipment.

welcome... I am sure many folks will be along shortly to ask all the usual questions like smooth or bumpy, flat or sloped... trees or open? one device with multiple attachments or mower and seperate snowblower? good luck with your choice. I tend to lean toward ZT's, but I dont have any need other than mowing an pulling a cart from time to time.
The front yard is larger than the back and consists of a flat section that declines briefly towards the woods alongside the house.
The back is considerably narrower and slopes significantly towards the woods behind the house.
The house is on a hilltop section of town and I don't anticipate wet spots.
Not much in the way of obstacles within the lawns. A small tree and a flower bed in front. In back, there is just the patio, house and woods at the perimeter.
During walkthrough, I noticed that the previous owner had a Simplicity lawn tractor and a two-stage walk behind snowblower.
I don't anticipate needing a tractor to plow or pull stumps, so a garden tractor would probably be overkill. A tractor would be used for mowing and perhaps snow removal.
I'm not sure of the relative benefits of a tractor-mounted snowblower versus a walk behind. Can a lawn tractor handle this or is a lawn and garden tractor needed?
I just bought a Kubota GR2110 with bagger, two-stage snowblower and rear counterweights. It was pricey, but I think that these will last me for a LONG time.
