I have read all the posts here for Craftsman mowers. Wow what a wealth of info.

I am new to the forums. Living in East Texas.
I recently bought a Craftsman ll 12 HP riding mower (917256921). If someone can help, I need to find a manual for this model or
something close. I have tried all the standard places on the net to hunt. I ordered a new shaft key to replace the one I lost. The left rear wheel almost came off on my first trial run with the mower. Is there a special way that the key goes into the slot on the shaft? Do I put the key in the shaft and then put the wheel on, or put the wheel on and then insert the key. Thanks for any help. Allen

I put the wheel on then slide the key in then a washer and the C clip.

Next time you can go to a auto parts store or even Home Depot and get the key, washer and C clip.

Thanks so much. I found the key easily at Sears direct, although the shipping cost more than the key.
I live in a small town in East Texas. We do not have a Home Depot, but do have a couple of auto part stores. Thanks again.
