Headlight switch

New guy here. I bought a 2021 ZTR 42 inch with a steering wheel off my nephew. It only had 10 hours on it. First thing I did was to change the oil. Runs great and mows nice and level. He’s looking for the owners manual but I don’t have much confidence he’ll find it. Anyway, I pretty much have everything figure out except the switch for the headlight on the steering column. I’m not planning on any night mowing but I’d like to find out how to turn it on. He thought it might turn on automatic. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Post the units model and serial numbers, I’m sure someone here will find a manual. As here are a couple different units, with your description, we will need those numbers to help with the switch question.

I'm pretty sure they come on automatically when you start the mower. Check the wiring on the headlights, as there might be a connector loose or broken wire.

Most of the California spec mowers I see here, the lights are a direct connection to the alternator so when the mower is running so are the lights, apparently a "safety" requirement .
