Does the Gravely ZT HD 60" mower have aluminum or cast-iron spindles? Spoke to a gravely dealer today over the phone and they said cast-iron. On gravely's website, the specs list it as aluminum. I've not had time to call gravely directly.

Well, I think I answered my own question. According to multiple sources of info published by Gravely, the answer looks to be aluminum.

Maintenance-free aluminum spindles were also added to improve the machine's ease of serviceability. The new aluminum spindles reduce bearing temperatures for an overall cooler operation.

Sounds like you did answer yer question. with ball bearings.. I would prefer to do the greasing & have the iron spindle housings. But...............

If you are going to look at another one, carry a small magnet to check.
