You May be having the same problem I'm having...
The magnetic coil in my clutch burnt Up.... So now I am removing the clutch assembly to figure out what parts I'll need to replace.

To check use an ohm meter check the wiring At the clutch ... If it measures a Short your coil is bad, if it is not low resistance, then check the wire coming from the PTO switch, You may get lucky and only have a shorted wire... But start At the clutch.:smile:KennyV

Should a good Coil have low resistance ? I would expect a Good Coil to measure a short or very low resistance. I'm having same problem on

an Ariens 1028 Rear Rider. But my PTO Belt isn't turning when Blade isn't engaged. My Idler Pulley Spring is off. I can't figure out where it connects.

warb,

You should start you own thread. that way you can provide all the info needed and people can respond to your problem instead of the other persons.
It gets very confusing with multiple mower problems trying to be solved on the same thread.
Does that make sense?
