Grasshopper 628D Starts but will not run
I am a new grasshopper mower owner the mower is not new

Grasshopper 628D Starts but will not run
this problem is intermittent The mower will always start but when you return the key to the run position the mower shuts off

The problem is the starter has a white wire going to it that is suppose to stay hot when the mower is running mine is not staying hot

This happens sporadically sometime it fires right up and will not quit running until i turn it off after mowing 7-12 acres other time is will not run even after 15 attempts to start/run or so next day it might fire right up

this has stumped me (not that hard:smile:) and my certified grasshopper dealer/repair man he has check/fixed all safety switches we have also replace a couple relays with no luck

when looking at the repair manual it says to check the grounds but we can see all ground and the look fine

I would check out your ignition switch or start solenoid

Could be a loose wiring harness connection on the switch. Maybe a broken or loose wire. Could possibly be the kill switch wire grounding out on the engine or frame someplace. Disconnect the kill wire on the coil and see if it will run and not cut out or die. Sounds like an intermittent grounding.
