I have a STIHL Brushcutter, model - FS85 that will not stay running because the fuel pick-up tube/filter will not stay on the bottom of the tank. While I’ve had the trimmer for many years, this is a new dilemma for me. Any suggestions on how to get the tube to stay on the bottom of the tank??

Maybe the gas line got old and it bent by itself. Try putting in a screwdriver and placing it in the bottom or maybe just replace the line, should be pretty simple.

The fuel filter should have a weight on it to hold it down.
Never seen one detach but anything is possible
Replace the filter with a porex one
If the fuel line feels stiff, replace it as well
Usually they develope a crack just where they go through the tank

I'm going to move this thread over to our Stihl section in case you still need more answers.

As Bert said, replace the lines and filter.
