Grass Catcher Issues

My Cub Cadet as a double bag grass catcher. The tube that goes from the mower deck to the bag attachment keeps getting clogged by grass. It does matter if it is wet or dry grass it plugs after one or two runs up and back on my lawn. I’ve cleaned it out checked for obstructions but can’t get it to keep from plugging up.

Are you using mulching blades, high lift, etc.? Is your lawn tractor an XT1, XT2 ? Make sure underside of deck is clean & try mowing when grass is dry.

I have the XT1. I have cleaned the blade area under deck several times. The grass today was very dry and plugged. I believe they are standard, not mulching, blades.

So you need to look at the following
1) High lift blades to throw the grass up harder
2) the Amount the bags themselves obstruct air air flow Occasional washing helps
3) the discharge chute inside the top of the bagger

Thanks. I never thought of the bags being the issue. They are pretty dirty and I’ve never cleaned them. I’ll check out the blades as well.

I just have a regular push toro mower. About 2 or 3 times a year I take the pressure washer to the bag in a reverse direction (outside in) to make sure it can breathe freely. If I don't, it slowly loses the ability to let out the incoming air and the mower will start clogging more. As suggested, I would look at the way the bagger breathes out and be sure those openings are clean and unrestricted.

Rojoloco: Could you be running the blade too slow? Do you have the correct blade for it?
