Gourds

Do you use gourds as a holiday decoration around Thanksgiving time? When I was growing up, we used to put them on our front porch with some wildflowers as a way to welcome in The Thanksgiving season.

My wife likes to paint them and cut a hole to make it a birdhouse. It's a cheap way out at Christmas!

How well do they hold up as birdhouses? I have been looking at this as a craft for Christmas as well. I have saw some other things you can do with gourds as well.

We plant some every year, usually put some around the front lamp post in the Fall. ~~ grnspot110

That is a very nice fall scene. I am not sure what I want to do this year, I have been looking at sites but nothing really "jumps" out at me. I am sure I will find it sometime soon, I want to decorate soon.
