Which parts need sealed? Without knowing, factory paper gaskets seem to work ok.

The "F" engine case haves are sealed with Anaerobic Gasket Maker (no actual gasket as others stated).
Lawn Boy Mechanic Handbook calls out Lawn-Boy Gasket Maker # 682302.
I used Permatex # 51817 when I did two of my "F" engines.

Yes, that is what it says in the Mechanic Handbook. If you don't have one of these books, pick one up or download it if you can find it.

is this product heat resistent or does it matter?

It is designed for use in assembling engines, and I'd guess it is the equiv. to the O.E. L-B stuff so I'd say YES.
Go to an auto parts store or google it and read the packaging.
