gas filling block

hi people im ernie from burleson so heres whats happening ive got a gravely model 991027 with 21 hp kawasaki fh641v es21 gas keeps filling block i thought float sticking or electric fuel shutoff but i drained both tanks replaced carb and fuel shutoff even the fuel lines and put two filters in-line just to be sure but its still doing it any suggestions would sure help and Thank you

You still have a problem with the carb. Gas has to pass thru the carb to get in the crankcase. The needle is not closing off the fuel......The electric cut off is just a anti backfire solenoid....:smile:

It's just strange I guess, I'll pull that new carb off and clean it up. I just needed to throw it out there and see if there could be something else.

As I understand you replaced the carburetor with a new one and that didn't cure the problem? I would say you still have a carburetor problem. There is no other place the gas could be coming from unless it has a mechanical fuel pump. Being a new carburetor you must have some kind of warranty on it?

So what I've discovered is if I switch it to the right fuel tank within 24 hrs the block is full of gas if I leave it on the left tank it doesn't

Now stop and think. Gas is a fluid and where can it flow into the block from? Now you have a new carburetor so what other location could it be coming from? On anything I own or worked on the gas first goes to the fuel pump, so that other place is there other then the new carburetor you installed? I take it that is happening when it sits over night. If that is the case the fluid (gas) has to syphon from the tank into the block. My own thought on it would be you still have a carburetor problem or fuel pump??? what other connection would you have to the block?

When I rebuilt the '66 Chevy carburetor, I noticed that the new needle and seat was leaking - so I used the old one..
Never a problem.
Maybe the new needle and seat is dirty.

I too had a fuel in the block problem and i had fuel lines breaking down and rubber pieces getting in the float valve, flooding the engine. I changed ALL the fuel lines and the tank draw straws and Still had flooding until i also cleaned the fuel pump as some rubber pieces were stuck in there, too. Took 19 try's but i didn't give up and FINALLY got it fixed.Now runs great!!! You wouldn't believe all the stuff i cleaned out of the fuel tanks!!
