FYI Toro tractors

For those who don't me I am a Toro man. Just found out this past week that Toro will be discontinuing selling tractors at the end of the 2013 model year. Have not been told a reason why. To me it is a love/hate decision. Toro always manufactured a quality tractor until they had MTD started making them, that's when I saw the quality go down hill. Just thought I'd let you know if you see someone interested in a Toro. We are going to stock up, by ordering a extra units (if we can find storage space) as we think it is still worth the $$$$ for our customers. My problem is that I don't need a new unit for about 3 years, but now I need to decide if I should buy now or see where the industry is in 3 years.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming just tractors because their ZTRs are very popular...Toro would lose a lot of money!!!

As far as we were told it was just the tractors, NOT ANYTHINHG IN THE Z-TURN LINE!! Don't know if it's good or bad. As I said I have not been impressed with the quality and that might be the reason why. Just guessing.

Yeah I think you are right. On this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTD_Products it says this:
"In 2007, MTD began building the low-end lawn and garden tractors for its otherwise competitor, Toro."

Hi All:
We've been told that Toro is pushing big time into Zero Turns. This is sad from our standpoint because where the snow flies, we need lawn tractors with blades in winter and decks in the summer:rolleyes: So our clients will be going to MTD or AYP made tractors. After discussing with MTD, I understand that the Cub Cadet line is where MTD is putting their push for quality.

Lately zero-turn mowers have gotten more versatile. You can put plows/snowblowers on some of them, like these pictures. I got these from some users in this thread: http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/snow-removal/12440-snow-plow-ztr-mower.html.

There are tons of attachments for ZTR mowers that I think are really cool. See them in this thread: http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/general-mower-discussion/6474-zero-turn-attachments.html.

If you want to mount anything on a zero turn, please send me some of your extra money, because you are just wasting it anyway. If you still decide to do so, your mechanic is going to have a good couple of years, until your decide it was no a good decision. Lawn mower fanatic, just because someone has done it, does not mean that it is something that should be reposted. As a mechanic, I love to see this type of info passed around, as it will put more money into my pocket. As amember of this forum, I hate to see it, because it gives people bad info, coming from looting uninform people, who have never had to explain to people why someone would say that it could pull a 1000 pounds (ok a little less) because they just want to sell the unit or really didn't know. If you have not worked on the unit, please don't try to post like you know what you are talking about and I will not tell anyone how to maintain there property. Landscapers know how to maintain lawns, mechanics know how to repair units, and Z-turns are built for mowing lawns and each do their jobs very well as long as they stick to what they know.

I never said I recommended it, I am just telling people what their options are.
