I am an older man with about 1/4 acre to mow. It's fairly flat. I want a self-propelled walk behind and was wondering what everyone thinks about FWD vs RWD.

Welcome to the forum! Here's my thoughts on this topic:
-Your back tires stay in contact with the ground over bumps, so you will get a more constant force forward with a RWD mower. With a FWD mower when the front tires bounce off the ground the mower won't be propelled forward. This also applies when you are bagging the grass and you have a heavy grass bag. The front wheels will want to do a wheelie so there won't be much propulsion with a FWD mower in this situation.
-If you don't want to release the drive lever every time you turn at the end of the pass, then you might like the FWD mowers, because you can lift up the front of the mower, turn 180 degrees, and set the mower back down, without letting go of the drive. For me it's very simple to just let go of the drive lever, turn, and push it in again, so I prefer RWD, but your situation might be different. Any more questions feel free to ask!
