I'm repairing/rebuilding a Bolens ST-125 with a B&S 404707-011 12.5 hp opposed twin and bought a Chinese replacement carb that came without a fuel solenoid. Will the engine run without the solenoid and what problems can I expect if it runs without the fuel solenoid. The threads are different so I can't use the original solenoid.

No problems at all, just cut off that plunger flush with the threads.

Thanks for the quick reply! The carb I received had a plug in the port already and after reading through the thread on the Vanguard solenoids I think I'll be OK running without until I get one that will fit, if I get one at all. Apparently the original one may not have been working as I was still getting the 'after fire' if I shut down hot, I think the plug won't be a change from what I had.

just be sure that plug doesn't come out, since on those opposed twins, and like other engines, the plunger goes right into the main jet, so if it comes out your float bowl will drain out and your engine will die and hopefully the exhaust won't ignite the fumes.
